"I gave the Philips Norelco 8240XL a real "trial by fire", with my very first shave! I had just gotten back from a 10 day camping trip, where I did not shave for the entire time! When I got back, my wife took one look at me and said,"I know what I am getting you for your birthday!"

The next day, she looked at several electric shavers online. We narrowed it down to the ES8109S, or the 8060X. One is a Panasonic, and the other a Philips Norelco model. Finally, we got a great deal on the 8240XL from Amazon.com, and we ordered it.

I wanted my first shave to be with the 8240XL, so I actually waited for it to be shipped. By the, I was starting to look like the Tom Hanks character in "Castaway!"

When it arrived, I anxiously took it out of the box,(no easy task), only to discover that I needed to give it a charge before I could use it. So, I let it charge overnight, and got ready for my big shave in the morning!

The Philips Norelco 8240XL comes with this cool trimmer, so I started with my mustache first. Simple as pie! Next, I started to go to town on my neck. Now usually I have problems with the area around my Adam's apple, and that occurs when I have a day's growth, not 17 days!

The Norelco 8240XL handled my neck with ease! It literally "slid" through my beard such that it was hard to tell if I was even shaving1 Also, it is amazingly quiet, too.

When I got done, all I had to do was rinse the 8240XL in tap water, and it was clean as a whistle!
SO easy! When I saw how good my face looked after my shave, I had to write this 8240XL review!
